HONOR | HUNGER | HUMILITY | HOSPITATLITY | HOLINESS
|
HONOR
•to worship, glorify, serve • to hold in high respect or reverence•
"YOU ARE WORTHY, OUR LORD AND GOD, TO RECEIVE GLORY AND HONOR AND POWER, FOR YOU CREATED ALL THINGS, AND BY YOUR WILL THEY WERE CREATED AND HAVE THEIR BEING."
-REVELATION 4:11 We value honoring the LORD above everything as first priority. Not only are we continually commanded to honor the LORD through our praise and worship, it is our natural response as recipients of God's scandalous grace. As we honor and glorify Jesus with our entire being, we learn to honor God's people who are made in His image (1 Pet 2:17).
|
HUNGER
•to have a strong desire or longing•
BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, FOR THEY SHALL BE FILLED.
-MATTHEW 5:6 We desire to be a company of passionate sons and daughters that never ceases to hunger for more of Jesus. We recognize our dependency for His Word and His Presence. We believe that as we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us (Jas 4:8). It's God's joy to fill us with His Spirit even more (Luke 11:13)!
|
HOLINESS
•to be separate or set apart•
BUT AS HE WHO CALLED YOU IS HOLY, YOU ALSO BE HOLY IN ALL YOUR CONDUCT, SINCE IT IS WRITTEN, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY AS I AM HOLY"
-1 PETER 1:15-16 We believe the presence of Jesus transforms us; and we can't stay the same once we've encountered the one true living God. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are sanctified and made more Christ-like in our speech, actions, and our character (1 Pet 1:2; 1 Cor 6:11).
|
HUMILITY
•the quality or state of being humble • to have an accurate view/perspective in relation to God•
HE HAS TOLD YOU, O MAN, WHAT IS GOOD; AND WHAT DOES THE LORD REQUIRE OF YOU BUT TO DO JUSTICE, TO LOVE KINDNESS, AND TO WALK HUMBLY WITH YOUR GOD?
- MICAH 6:8 We choose the path of humility in every aspect of our daily living. In our service, our interactions- in all that we do - we want to walk in a way cognizant of what Jesus has accomplished for us on the cross. Therefore, we choose to walk in grace and humility in every facet of life.
|
HOSPITALITY
•the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers•
"FOR I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING TO EAT, I WAS THIRSTY AND YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING TO DRINK...TRULY I TELL YOU, WHATEVER YOU DID FOR ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF MINE, YOU DID FOR ME."
- MATTHEW 25:35-40 We cherish a saying in our community: "Hosting God is hosting people." As we learn to host God's presence, we naturally learn how genuinely to love and host our neighbors - and vice versa. Jesus is always the guest of honor, and we desire to love and serve Him with the utmost excellence; and as an overflow, we grow in loving and serving those around us.
